Project Overview
Natural Finish in Manhattan was the focus of a recent hardwood floor renovation project for our valued customer, A.S. With 1,200 square feet of hardwood flooring, A.S. wanted a renovation that would maintain the natural beauty of the wood while ensuring long-lasting durability. Our team provided expert sanding and refinishing services to achieve this goal.
Sanding and Refinishing the Floors
The first step in the renovation was sanding the entire 1,200 sq ft of hardwood floors. Sanding removes old finishes, dirt, and imperfections, leaving a smooth, clean surface. This is essential for preparing the wood for refinishing and allows the natural texture and grain of the wood to shine through. After sanding, we refinished the floors without using any stain, preserving the natural look of the wood.
Satin Finish in Morningside Heights, Manhattan: A Hardwood Floor Renovation Story (Customer: A.S.)
Water-Based Polyurethane for Protection
To protect the wood and ensure long-lasting results, we applied three coats of water-based polyurethane. This finish is clear, durable, and non-yellowing, which helps maintain the wood’s natural appearance. It dries quickly, making it ideal for busy homes, and provides an excellent layer of protection against everyday wear and tear.
Satin Finish for a Soft Glow
The final step in this renovation was applying a satin finish. A satin finish offers a soft glow without the high shine of a glossy finish. This subtle sheen adds elegance to the hardwood floors while still keeping them easy to clean and maintain. It perfectly complements the natural look of the wood, offering a sophisticated yet understated appearance.
