Project Overview
M.K. reached out to us for a hardwood floor renovation in their 470 square foot home located in Manhattan. They wanted to restore their hardwood floors with sanding and refinishing, maintaining the natural look of the wood. The project involved no stain or color change, allowing the true beauty of the hardwood to shine through. Our team applied 3 coats of water-based polyurethane to finish the project, providing a durable, protective coating for the floors.
Sanding and Refinishing Process
Sanding is the first step in any hardwood floor renovation. It involves removing the old finish, imperfections, and dirt, leaving the wood smooth and ready for refinishing. For M.K.’s 470 square foot floor, we used our professional sanding equipment to ensure an even, clean surface. After sanding, we proceeded with refinishing the floor to bring out its natural beauty. The refinishing process helps protect the floor while giving it a fresh, polished appearance.

Natural Wood Finish
Instead of adding a stain to change the color of the wood, M.K. chose a natural finish. This option highlights the authentic beauty of the hardwood, allowing its natural grains and colors to stand out. By keeping the wood’s original tones, M.K. created a clean and timeless look that will never go out of style. The natural finish emphasizes the wood’s unique characteristics, providing a classic look that enhances the overall aesthetic of the home.
Protective Polyurethane Coating
To seal and protect M.K.’s floors, we applied 3 coats of water-based polyurethane. This finish provides a durable, clear layer that protects the wood from everyday wear and tear. Water-based polyurethane is a popular choice because it dries quickly, doesn’t yellow over time, and enhances the wood’s natural color. With this protective coating, M.K.’s hardwood floors are not only beautiful but also long-lasting and easy to maintain.
