Introduction to the Project
Hardwood floor renovation in Manhattan can transform your home, just like it did for our customer, J.P., in the Upper West Side. Located at 221 West 82nd Street, J.P. wanted to restore the beauty of their 1,800 square feet of hardwood floors. The project included sanding and refinishing the floors using the highest quality equipment, ensuring a dust-free experience and a long-lasting, beautiful finish.
Sanding and Refinishing: Restoring Natural Beauty
J.P. wanted to maintain the natural color of their hardwood floors, so no stain was applied during the renovation. Our sanding process was the first step. With a powerful 110 V machine, we carefully sanded the floors to remove old finishes, dirt, and imperfections. This process left the surface smooth and ready for refinishing. Sanding also brings out the natural wood grain, which is a key part of the aesthetic appeal.
After sanding, the refinishing process began. We applied three coats of water-based polyurethane to protect the hardwood and give it a fresh, glossy look. This water-based polyurethane finish not only enhances the natural beauty of the wood but also provides durability against daily wear and tear. With the three coats, J.P.’s hardwood floors were left looking stunning and resilient for years to come.
Sanding and Refinishing in Upper West Side, Manhattan: A Hardwood Floor Renovation Story (Customer: J.P.)
Polyurethane Application: A Long-Lasting Finish
Polyurethane is a critical part of hardwood floor refinishing, and for J.P.’s project, we used water-based polyurethane. This type of polyurethane is popular because it dries quickly and has a low odor, making it perfect for indoor projects in Manhattan. Water-based polyurethane also offers superior protection, making it ideal for high-traffic areas like J.P.’s 1,800 square feet of flooring. The three layers of polyurethane provide excellent protection, keeping the floors safe from scratches, scuffs, and stains while maintaining their natural beauty.
Dust-Free Sanding: A Cleaner Process
One of the main concerns with floor refinishing is the dust that can be created during the sanding process. At Wood Flooring Masters, we use advanced dustless sanding equipment to ensure a clean and efficient job. For J.P.’s project, our dust-free sanding system helped keep the home clean throughout the process. Not only does this make the job quicker, but it also minimizes the mess, making it easier for J.P. to enjoy their newly renovated floors without worrying about extra cleaning.
The combination of sanding, natural wood preservation, and three coats of water-based polyurethane left J.P. with beautifully refinished hardwood floors that will last for many years.
