Project Overview
C.C. from Flushing, NY, contacted us for a hardwood floor renovation to restore their 700 sq ft floor space. With sanding and refinishing services, their goal was to bring back the floor’s natural beauty while maintaining its authentic charm. Our team took on the task of sanding the floors to remove any imperfections and applying a smooth, durable finish.
Sanding the Floors
The first step in the renovation was sanding the hardwood floors. Sanding removes the old finish, dirt, and scratches, providing a smooth surface for refinishing. It also ensures that the new finish adheres properly to the wood. Sanding is essential for maintaining the wood’s texture and giving it a refreshed, polished look. After sanding, the floors were prepared to showcase the natural wood without any stain or color change.
Natural Finish in Flushing: A Hardwood Floor Renovation Story (Customer: C.C.)
Refinishing with Water-Based Polyurethane
After sanding, the floors were refinished with three coats of water-based polyurethane. This polyurethane finish not only enhances the wood’s natural grain but also provides long-lasting protection. The water-based formula dries faster, has a low odor, and is more environmentally friendly compared to oil-based finishes. It ensures that the floors remain durable while maintaining their natural appearance.
Semi-Gloss Finish
To complete the floor renovation, we applied a semi-gloss finish. The semi-gloss finish provides a subtle shine to the floors, bringing out the natural color and texture of the wood. It also offers an additional layer of protection, making it easier to clean and maintain. This type of finish strikes the perfect balance between durability and aesthetic appeal.
