Sanding for a Fresh Look
Wood Flooring Masters was called in to renovate the hardwood floors at L.P.’s home on Oak St in Deer Park, Long Island, NY. The project included sanding and refinishing 765 square feet of hardwood flooring. Sanding is a crucial first step in any floor renovation, as it removes dirt, old finishes, and imperfections, leaving a smooth, clean surface. In this case, the sanding process also involved repairing damaged boards to ensure the floor looked uniform and well-maintained.
Repairing Damaged Boards
Part of the project was dedicated to repairing damaged hardwood boards. Some areas of the floor had suffered wear and tear over time, so we carefully replaced or fixed the damaged sections to restore the floor’s integrity. This repair work ensured that the entire 765-square-foot floor would look like new and perform well for years to come.

Natural Finish Without Stain
For the finishing touch, L.P. opted for a natural wood finish, meaning no stain or color change was applied. Keeping the natural look of the wood enhances its grain and texture, providing a timeless appeal. The wood’s original beauty is showcased with this choice, maintaining a classic and elegant aesthetic. After sanding, the floor was ready for refinishing with three coats of water-based polyurethane.
Refinishing and Protection
The final step in the renovation was the refinishing process. We applied three coats of water-based polyurethane to protect the wood and enhance its appearance. Water-based polyurethane is a durable finish that helps safeguard the floor against scratches and wear. The three coats ensure long-lasting protection while providing a clear and glossy finish that will keep L.P.’s hardwood floors looking fresh and vibrant.
