Introduction to the Project
Hardwood floor installation and refinishing in Brooklyn can transform any home, and that’s exactly what we did for B.P. on Putnam Ave. B.P. contacted us for help with a 1,500 sq ft hardwood floor renovation. The project involved installing unfinished white oak hardwood, sanding, refinishing, and adding soundproofing elements to enhance the floors’ quality and longevity. Our team at Wood Flooring Masters took care of every detail, from floor installation to the final finishing touches.
Installing and Sanding White Oak Hardwood
The first step in B.P.’s hardwood floor renovation was the installation of unfinished white oak hardwood. We used high-quality materials to ensure a smooth, durable foundation. The floor was secured with a combination of rubber and 5″ glue and nails, ensuring a sturdy and long-lasting installation. Once installed, we sanded the floors to remove imperfections and prepare them for refinishing.

Refinishing and Polyurethane Coating
After sanding, we refinished the floors to restore their beauty and shine. The refinishing process gives the wood a fresh, smooth surface that brings out its natural character. To protect the floor and enhance its durability, we applied three coats of water-based polyurethane. This finish provides long-lasting protection while maintaining the wood’s natural appearance without altering its color.
Soundproofing and Heavy-Traffic Finish
B.P. also wanted to improve the soundproofing in their space, so we added black-rubber runners. These runners help reduce noise and improve the acoustics of the home. Additionally, we applied two layers of heavy-traffic Bona finish, which is designed to withstand high foot traffic and daily wear. This finish ensures the floors stay beautiful and protected for years to come.
