Project Overview
I.V. from Harlem, NY, reached out to us to renovate their bamboo flooring. The job covered 1,300 sq ft, where our team performed sanding, refinishing, and sealing. The main goal was to enhance the natural beauty of the bamboo floors without altering their color. We used Bona Nordic Seal, three coats of water-based polyurethane, and finished with a satin gloss for a perfect and durable outcome.
Sanding the Bamboo Floors
Sanding is the first step in the hardwood floor refinishing process, and it’s especially important for bamboo. The bamboo floors were carefully sanded to remove any surface imperfections or old finishes. This process helped restore a smooth, even surface, perfect for applying the new sealant and polyurethane coating.

Applying Bona Nordic Seal
After sanding, we applied the Bona Nordic Seal to protect the bamboo and enhance its natural look. The Bona Nordic Seal is a protective layer that maintains the bamboo’s color and grain while providing durability. This seal ensures the bamboo floors remain resistant to daily wear, dirt, and moisture.
Finishing with Polyurethane and Satin Gloss
The final step in the renovation involved applying three coats of water-based polyurethane. This coating is designed to protect the floors from scratches and stains while maintaining the bamboo’s natural beauty. We also used a satin finish, which provides a subtle sheen to the floors without making them too glossy. This satin finish ensures the floors look elegant and are easy to maintain.
