Sanding and Refinishing
When R.J. contacted us for a hardwood floor renovation in their Manhattan home, they wanted to restore the beauty of their existing parquet floors. The 600 sq ft area was in need of some attention, and we were excited to bring it back to life with our sanding and refinishing services. Our team carefully sanded the parquet flooring, removing old finishes, stains, and imperfections, preparing the wood for a fresh new coat of polyurethane.
Natural Wood Look with No Stain
For this renovation project, R.J. requested a natural look without any stain or color change. This means the original color and grain of the hardwood would shine through, showcasing the natural beauty of the wood. We took extra care to ensure the sanding process highlighted the inherent texture and details of the hardwood, giving it a clean and polished appearance.

3 Coats of Water-Based Polyurethane
After the sanding, we applied three coats of water-based polyurethane to seal and protect the hardwood. This water-based polyurethane provides a durable finish that helps preserve the floor’s beauty for years to come. It is a great option for those looking to maintain the natural wood look while offering resistance to scratches, spills, and general wear and tear. The three layers also ensure the floor gets a smooth, even finish that lasts.
Satin Finish for a Soft Glow
To complete the renovation, we used a satin finish on R.J.’s floors. Satin finishes are known for their subtle glow, offering a smooth and soft look that’s less glossy than high-gloss finishes but still reflective enough to add character. The satin finish helped bring out the natural wood tones while providing a protective layer that is easy to maintain.
R.J. was thrilled with the final result, enjoying the refreshed look and durable finish of their hardwood floors.
