Sanding and Refinishing
Hardwood floor sanding in Queens is a popular service, and we recently had the pleasure of working with S.B. at their home on Newtown Rd, Queens, NY. S.B. wanted to revamp their existing hardwood floors, which required sanding and refinishing. With a floor size of 500 sq ft, this project aimed to remove the old carpet and restore the natural beauty of the hardwood beneath. Our team at Wood Flooring Masters specializes in expert floor sanding and refinishing services, and we were excited to bring new life to S.B.’s floors.
Carpet Removal and Restoration
The main challenge of this hardwood floor renovation was the removal of old carpet and the restoration of the hardwood beneath. The carpet had been covering the floors for some time, and it was important to bring the hardwood back to its original condition. Once the carpet was removed, our team could begin the sanding process. The goal was to smooth out any imperfections and give the hardwood floor a fresh, polished look without altering its natural color. With 500 sq ft of flooring to work with, we knew this would be a significant yet rewarding job.

A Fresh Look for Natural Hardwood
For this project, S.B. chose a natural finish with no stain or color change, allowing the natural beauty of the hardwood to shine through. Our sanding process involved carefully smoothing the surface of the wood to remove any scratches, dents, or imperfections. After sanding, we applied three coats of water-based polyurethane to provide a durable, protective layer. The matte finish added a sophisticated, non-glossy appearance that complemented the natural wood look. This combination of sanding, refinishing, and a matte finish ensured that S.B.’s floors would not only look great but also stand the test of time.
Protective Coating and Matte Finish
After the sanding and refinishing were complete, we applied the three coats of water-based polyurethane. This type of finish is ideal for hardwood floors because it offers excellent durability without the heavy shine that some people prefer to avoid. The matte finish provides a modern, understated look that perfectly suits the natural character of the wood. Once everything was dry and fully cured, S.B. was left with a beautifully restored hardwood floor, ready to be enjoyed for many years to come.
