Sanding for a Fresh Start
Wood Flooring Masters recently had the pleasure of working on a hardwood floor renovation for D.M. in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. The project covered a 570 sq. ft. area, which included multiple rooms in D.M.’s home. The first step in the renovation was sanding the hardwood floors. Sanding is essential to remove any old finish, scratches, or imperfections, giving the wood a smooth, clean surface. This process ensures the wood is ready for refinishing, creating a fresh base to bring out its natural beauty.
Refinishing with a Natural Look
For this project, D.M. wanted to keep the floors as natural as possible, with no stain or color change. After sanding and applying the natural finish, we applied three coats of water-based polyurethane to seal and protect the wood. Water-based polyurethane is ideal for homeowners who want a clear, durable finish that does not yellow over time. It creates a strong protective layer that resists scratches, stains, and other damage from everyday use. The water-based finish also dries quickly, so D.M. was able to enjoy their newly renovated floors sooner.
Matte Finish for Subtle Elegance
To complete the refinishing process, we applied a matte finish to the floor. A matte finish provides a soft, low-sheen look that adds elegance without being too glossy. It’s a great option for those who prefer a subtle and understated look.
