Sanding and Refinishing the Floors
At Wood Flooring Masters, we take pride in restoring hardwood floors to their original beauty. For V.L.’s home on E 32nd Street in Manhattan, we began the hardwood floor renovation by sanding the entire 550 sq ft area. Sanding is an essential part of the floor refinishing process, removing old finishes, dirt, and scratches, and leaving behind a smooth, clean surface. This step allowed us to prepare the floor for the refinishing process, ensuring the best results.
Repairing Parker Glue-Down Flooring
Part of the renovation involved repairing a 30 sq ft section of Parker glue-down flooring. This repair is a key step to ensure that every part of the floor is stable, secure, and visually appealing. Our team carefully addressed any damaged areas and replaced them with new material, blending them seamlessly with the surrounding floor. By making these repairs, we made sure V.L.’s floors looked great and functioned properly.

Choosing Natural Stain for the Floor
For this project, V.L. decided on a natural finish for the wood floors, without any stain or color change. The natural look enhances the wood’s original beauty, showcasing the grain and texture. Natural wood floors bring warmth and elegance to any space, and V.L. wanted to preserve the authentic, unaltered appearance of the wood. This decision helped maintain the timeless beauty of the floors while allowing the natural color of the wood to shine through.
Applying Water-Based Polyurethane with Satin Finish
Once the sanding, repairs, and natural stain were complete, we applied 3 coats of water-based polyurethane to provide a durable finish. Water-based polyurethane is an excellent choice for its quick drying time, low odor, and durability. The satin finish adds a subtle shine to the wood, offering a smooth, sophisticated look while remaining easy to maintain. The final result was a floor that was not only beautiful but also well-protected from daily wear and tear.
