Introduction to the Renovation
Hardwood flooring in Manhattan can be a beautiful addition to any home or office, offering elegance and durability. E.G. reached out to us for a complete hardwood floor renovation, which included sanding, staining, and refinishing their 100 sq ft area. The goal was to restore the wood to its original beauty and fix some water damage that had occurred. We used a combination of high-quality materials and expert craftsmanship to ensure a stunning final result.
Sanding and Staining the Floors
The first step of the renovation was sanding the floors. Sanding removes any old finish, imperfections, and scratches to create a smooth surface. Once we completed the sanding process, it was time to apply the stain. E.G. chose a beautiful weathered oak stain that added a modern, sophisticated look to the floor. The stain not only enhances the natural grain of the wood but also helps protect it for years to come.
Hardwood Flooring Refinishing in Manhattan: A Hardwood Floor Renovation Story (Customer: E.G.)
Water Damage Repair and Materials
Before beginning the sanding, we addressed the water damage that had affected parts of the floor. Using high-quality materials, we repaired the damaged areas to make sure the floor was level and smooth. We used 3 bundles of 5″ red oak and 1 bundle of 6″ red oak to match the existing wood, ensuring the repairs were seamless and consistent with the original floor.
Refinishing with Polyurethane and Satin Finish
Once the staining was complete, we moved on to the refinishing process. To protect the wood and give it a long-lasting shine, we applied 3 coats of water-based polyurethane. The polyurethane provides a durable, scratch-resistant finish while maintaining the beauty of the wood. E.G. opted for a satin finish, giving the floor a soft, natural sheen without being too glossy. This finish is perfect for high-traffic areas, as it helps preserve the look of the floor while adding protection against everyday wear.
The result of this hardwood floor renovation in Manhattan is a beautifully restored floor that looks like new. E.G. was thrilled with the outcome, and their floors now have a modern, clean appearance with improved durability and longevity.
