Sanding for a Smooth Surface
Wood Flooring Masters was called to renovate a small but important section of hardwood flooring in S.G.’s home on East 72nd Street, Manhattan, NY. The project involved sanding and refinishing a 40-square-foot parquet floor. Sanding was the first step, carefully smoothing the surface to remove any imperfections and preparing it for refinishing. The sanding process also helped match the newly renovated area to the rest of the floor, ensuring a seamless look.
Repairing Parquet Flooring
The focus of this renovation was repairing a section of parquet flooring that needed attention. Parquet floors can experience wear and tear over time, leading to damaged or uneven sections. Our team carefully repaired the damaged parts of the 40-square-foot area, ensuring that it would blend perfectly with the rest of the floor. After the repairs, we sanded the entire area to create a uniform, smooth surface ready for refinishing.

Natural Finish Without Stain
S.G. chose a natural finish for the wood, meaning no stain was applied, allowing the wood’s original color and grain to remain untouched. A natural finish highlights the inherent beauty of the wood while preserving its timeless look. After sanding and making repairs, we left the floor with its natural appearance, letting the wood speak for itself.
Durable Polyurethane Protection
To complete the refinishing process, we applied three coats of water-based polyurethane to the sanded and repaired parquet floor. Water-based polyurethane is known for its durability and fast drying time, providing a clear and long-lasting protective finish. The three coats of polyurethane ensured that S.G.’s floor would be protected from daily wear while maintaining a beautiful, glossy finish.
