Project Overview: Sanding, Staining, and Refinishing in Brooklyn
J.S. in Brooklyn reached out to Wood Flooring Masters for a full hardwood floor renovation. The project covered 700 sq ft of flooring, and the goal was to refresh the wood’s appearance with sanding, staining, and refinishing services. Our team worked to restore the natural beauty of the floors while adding durability and a new custom stain chosen by J.S.
Sanding: Creating a Smooth Surface for Renewal
The first step in the process was sanding. Sanding removes old finishes, dirt, and imperfections, preparing the floor for a fresh start. Using professional equipment, we carefully sanded the 700 sq ft area to reveal a smooth, clean surface. This essential step ensures the wood is ready for staining and refinishing, ensuring a flawless result.

Staining: Customizing the Floor’s Appearance
After sanding, J.S. selected a custom stain to enhance the natural wood grain. Staining adds color and depth to the floor, bringing out the rich textures and tones of the hardwood. The stain was carefully applied to achieve a beautiful, uniform color that complemented J.S.’s home design, making the floors look vibrant and refreshed.
Refinishing: Three Coats of Protective Polyurethane
The next step was refinishing with water-based polyurethane. We applied three coats of high-quality polyurethane to provide a durable protective layer. This finish helps to shield the floor from scratches, stains, and daily wear, ensuring that J.S.’s floors remain beautiful for years. The water-based formula is non-yellowing, maintaining the fresh, clean look of the stain while offering lasting protection.
