Sanding for a Clean Start
Wood Flooring Masters was called to restore M.K.’s hardwood floors on 9th Ave, Manhattan, NY. The project involved sanding and refinishing 470 square feet of hardwood flooring. Sanding is the first step in any hardwood floor renovation, and it’s crucial for achieving a smooth, even surface. The sanding process removed any old finishes, scratches, or imperfections, revealing the natural beauty of the wood underneath.
Natural Wood Finish
M.K. chose a natural finish for the wood, which means no stain or color change was applied. This allows the wood’s natural grain and texture to shine through, creating a timeless and elegant look. A natural finish highlights the beauty of the wood without overpowering its original charm. After sanding, the floor was prepared for refinishing with three coats of water-based polyurethane.

Polyurethane for Durability
To protect the wood and enhance its appearance, we applied three coats of water-based polyurethane. This finish is known for its durability and resilience, making it perfect for high-traffic areas like M.K.’s home. Water-based polyurethane also dries quickly and provides a clean, clear finish that doesn’t yellow over time. The three coats ensure that the floor will remain beautiful and protected for many years.
Refinished Floors That Shine
Once the refinishing process was complete, M.K. was left with stunning, revitalized hardwood floors. The 470 square feet of wood now have a smooth, glossy surface that enhances the entire room. The natural finish, combined with the durable polyurethane coating, gives the floors a fresh, clean look that will last for years to come.
