Sanding and Refinishing for a Fresh Look
H.T., a homeowner in Elmhurst, NY, decided it was time for a hardwood floor renovation to restore the beauty of their flooring. The existing hardwood floors had seen better days, and it was clear they needed sanding and refinishing. Our team was called in to bring them back to life, and we were excited to take on the project.
Flooring Services Provided: Sanding and Refinishing
The 700-square-foot hardwood floors required careful sanding to remove old finish and smooth out imperfections. This process is essential for giving the wood a fresh, clean surface to apply the new finish. We used specialized sanding equipment to ensure that every part of the floor was even and ready for refinishing. After sanding, we applied a coat of water-based polyurethane for a durable and long-lasting finish.

Shoe Molding Removal and Installation
As part of the renovation, we also removed the old shoe molding around the perimeter of the room. Shoe molding serves both a decorative and functional purpose, covering the small gap between the floor and the walls. After removing the old molding, we installed brand new shoe molding to complement the refinished floors. This added a polished look to the overall aesthetic of the space.
The Stain and Polyurethane Application
For this project, H.T. chose not to use any stain on the floors. The natural wood look was preferred, which allowed the beauty of the wood grain to shine through. After the sanding was complete, we applied three coats of water-based polyurethane. This finish helps protect the wood from everyday wear and tear while enhancing its natural shine. The water-based polyurethane is also environmentally friendly and quick-drying, making it an ideal choice for homeowners.
By the end of the project, H.T.’s hardwood floors in Elmhurst looked stunning, and the home had a fresh, updated feel. Our sanding and refinishing services gave the floors a new lease on life, and the new shoe molding added the perfect finishing touch.
