From Worn to Wow – E.P.’s Flooring Makeover in Hell’s Kitchen

When E.P. from W 51st St in the heart of Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan reached out to us, they were looking for more than just a standard floor refresh. With 800 square feet of hardwood flooring, a bold design vision, and some furniture challenges to navigate, this project called for skill, precision, and thoughtful execution.

In addition to sanding and staining, the job involved moving two sofas, a table, and a carpet—all handled by our team to ensure a smooth, stress-free process. E.P. also wanted baseboard protection during the work, which we carefully managed as part of our full-service approach.

The Process: Clean Lines, Deep Tones, and a Professional Touch

We began by moving the furniture safely out of the work area and covering the baseboards to protect the space. Then we performed a complete sanding of the existing floors, removing years of wear and preparing the surface for a new look.

E.P. chose Ebony stain—an elegant, dramatic finish that adds depth and contrast, especially popular in modern Manhattan apartments. After staining, we applied three coats of water-based polyurethane to lock in durability without sacrificing indoor air quality or drying time. To cap it all off, we finished the floor with a matte sheen, which gave the space a sleek, contemporary vibe without glare.
