Sanding, Staining, and Refinishing
Dark Walnut in Manhattan is the focus of this hardwood floor renovation project. Customer N.I. contacted us for a complete floor renovation of Room 4000 and Room 3900. Both rooms had hardwood floors that needed sanding, staining, and refinishing. After examining the spaces, we agreed on a total of 1,300 sq ft of hardwood flooring to be renovated, including both the living room and bedroom areas.
Sanding Process: Reviving the Old Floors
The sanding process was the first step in the renovation. For Room 4000 and Room 3900, our team carefully sanded 650 sq ft of hardwood flooring in each room. This sanding technique helped remove any old finishes, dirt, and imperfections. Our goal was to create a smooth and even surface, which would allow the stain and polyurethane to apply evenly. By restoring the original wood, we ensured that the new stain would appear vibrant and rich.

Staining with Dark Walnut: Adding Warmth and Elegance
Once the floors were sanded to perfection, we applied the Dark Walnut stain to give the hardwood floors a rich, elegant look. Dark Walnut is a popular stain choice for many homeowners due to its deep, warm tones. This stain added a touch of sophistication and complemented the modern style of the rooms. Both the living room (350 sq ft) and bedroom areas (300 sq ft) were stained with the same Dark Walnut shade, providing a cohesive and luxurious appearance.
Finishing Touch: Polyurethane and Satin Finish
After the stain had fully dried, we applied three coats of water-based polyurethane. Polyurethane offers superior protection and durability to the hardwood floors. A satin finish was chosen to provide a subtle shine without being too glossy. The satin finish also ensured the floors would be easy to maintain while still showcasing the beauty of the Dark Walnut stain.
