Buffing and Polyurethane in Chappaqua
K.G. in Chappaqua decided to refresh their first-floor hardwood flooring with a professional buffing and polyurethane service. With a total area of 1,835 square feet, the project focused on restoring the beauty of the existing floors while addressing some damaged boards that needed replacing. At Wood Flooring Masters (WFM), we specialize in bringing hardwood floors back to life with expert refinishing services, making them look new again.
Buffing for a Smooth Finish
The first step in the renovation was buffing the floor. This process involves lightly sanding the floor’s surface to remove imperfections, scratches, and worn-out finishes. Buffing ensures that the new polyurethane coat will adhere perfectly to the floor, providing a smooth and even finish. It also helps to restore the floor’s natural beauty, enhancing its shine and making it look fresh.

Replacing Damaged Boards
During the renovation, we noticed that some sections of the hardwood floor were damaged beyond repair. Our team replaced these damaged boards with new ones, making sure that they matched the existing flooring in both color and texture. After the new boards were installed, we carefully sanded and stained them to match the rest of the floor, ensuring a seamless appearance.
Polyurethane for Long-Lasting Protection
To complete the project, we applied 1 coat of water-based polyurethane to the entire first-floor area. Polyurethane is a protective finish that helps safeguard the wood from daily wear and tear while also enhancing its natural color and shine. The water-based polyurethane we used is not only environmentally friendly but also dries faster and has less odor compared to oil-based alternatives. The result is a beautifully finished floor that will stand up to foot traffic and maintain its beauty for years.
