Dark Staining in Galveston
At Wood Flooring Masters, we recently completed a hardwood floor refinishing project for R.R. on 30th Street in Galveston, Texas. The 884 sq ft project involved full floor sanding, custom staining, and sealing with oil-based polyurethane. The goal was to refresh the floors while adding a deep, rich tone to match the classic charm of the home. Our team provided expert service from start to finish, bringing out the best in the existing wood.
Sanding to Prepare the Surface
We started by sanding the entire wood floor area using our professional dustless sanding system. This process removes the old finish, smooths out scratches, and preps the surface for staining. Sanding is one of the most important steps in wood floor refinishing, and it allows the new stain to absorb evenly. It also helps improve the look and feel of older floors, especially in older Texas homes.
Dark Staining in Galveston: A Hardwood Floor Renovation Story (Customer: R.R.)
Rich Dark Walnut Stain for a Bold Look
The customer selected Duraseal Dark Walnut 171, a deep and elegant stain color that brings warmth and contrast to any room. Dark stains like this are a popular choice in hardwood floor staining because they hide imperfections and give the floor a sleek, updated look. After applying the stain, we allowed it to dry fully before moving to the sealing stage.
Oil-Based Polyurethane for Long-Lasting Protection
To seal the floors, we applied two coats of oil-based polyurethane with a satin finish. Oil-based polyurethane is known for its durability, rich tone enhancement, and long-lasting protection. The satin sheen gave the floor a soft glow—perfect for highlighting the grain without a high shine. With the new stain and strong seal, R.R.’s floors are now fully protected and beautifully restored.
