Refinishing Floors in Upper West Side
At Wood Flooring Masters, we recently completed a hardwood floor refinishing project for our customer E.M. at 33 W 82nd Street, Upper West Side, NY. The total space was 237 square feet and needed a full refresh. Our team provided professional sanding and refinishing services to restore the natural beauty of the existing wood floors. The goal was to remove old finish, smooth out the surface, and apply a new color and protective coat for a clean, bright look.
Colonial Maple Stain for Warm Color
After sanding, the customer selected Colonial Maple stain, a warm and timeless color that brings out the grain of the wood. Staining hardwood floors allows homeowners to add style and warmth while protecting the wood. Colonial Maple is especially popular in classic New York apartments because it blends well with a variety of furniture and wall colors. Our team applied the stain evenly to ensure a rich, consistent tone.

Water-Based Polyurethane with Semi-Gloss Finish
To protect the newly stained floors, we applied three coats of water-based polyurethane. This type of finish dries quickly, has low odor, and is safer for indoor spaces. E.M. chose a semi-gloss finish, which offers a nice balance between shine and durability. It reflects light better than satin, adding brightness to the room while still hiding minor dust and wear. Polyurethane for wood floors is essential for long-term protection.
Expert Hardwood Sanding and Finishing
Our flooring experts used dustless sanding tools and high-quality products to keep the space clean and efficient. From sanding wood floors to applying the semi-gloss polyurethane finish, we made sure every step was done right. The final result was a beautiful, smooth floor with a modern look and strong protection—another successful Upper West Side hardwood floor renovation.
