Sanding the Floors
The first step in the hardwood floor renovation for J.C. was sanding the 380 sq ft of hardwood floors in three bedrooms, including small closets. Sanding is essential to remove old finishes, dirt, and imperfections. This process left the floors smooth and ready for the next steps of staining and refinishing. Our team used advanced sanding equipment to ensure an even, flawless surface across the entire area, allowing the stain and finish to be applied perfectly.
Staining with Minwax Dark Walnut
After sanding, we applied Minwax Dark Walnut 2716 stain to bring out the natural beauty of the wood. This rich, dark stain added depth and warmth to the hardwood floors, giving them a sophisticated and elegant appearance. The Dark Walnut stain was carefully applied to the entire 380 sq ft of flooring, ensuring a consistent and uniform color across all the bedrooms and small closets.

Refinishing with Polyurethane
Once the stain had dried, we applied three coats of water-based polyurethane to the floors. This type of finish is highly durable, offering protection against scratches, moisture, and wear. The three coats ensured that the floors had a strong, protective layer that would last for years. Polyurethane also enhanced the color of the Minwax Dark Walnut stain, giving the floors a smooth, glossy finish that brightened the entire space.
Shoe Molding Installation
To complete the renovation, we installed 152 linear feet of new shoe molding around the base of the walls in the three bedrooms. Shoe molding is an essential finishing touch that covers the gap between the floor and the wall, giving the floors a neat, polished look. The new shoe molding perfectly complemented the refreshed floors, adding a clean and refined detail to the overall space.
