Introduction to the Renovation Project
Hardwood Floor Sanding in Manhattan Valley was the goal for J.L., who wanted to refresh their 950 sq ft hardwood floors at 407 Central Park West, Manhattan Valley, New York, NY 10025. J.L. reached out to Wood Flooring Masters for expert sanding, staining, and refinishing services. Our team was excited to restore the beauty of the floors while ensuring they would remain durable and long-lasting.
Sanding and Preparing the Wood
The first step was sanding the 950 sq ft of hardwood floors. Sanding is crucial as it removes any old finishes, dirt, and imperfections, leaving the wood smooth and ready for staining. Our team carefully sanded the entire floor, ensuring an even surface that would help the stain and finish adhere properly. This step helped reveal the wood’s natural grain and provided a clean canvas for the refinishing process.

Staining and Refinishing with Polyurethane
After sanding, J.L. chose a natural stain for the floors to enhance their natural wood color. The stain was applied evenly across the entire area, bringing out the rich, warm tones of the hardwood. Once the stain had dried, we applied three coats of water-based polyurethane. This protective coating ensures durability, making the floors resistant to scratches, wear, and moisture. The water-based polyurethane also gives the wood a smooth, even finish that will last for many years.
Satin Finish for a Soft Shine
To complete the renovation, we applied a satin finish to the floors. The satin finish offers a subtle, low-luster shine that enhances the natural beauty of the wood without making it overly glossy. This finish also provides an extra layer of protection, helping to keep the floors looking great and standing up to daily use.
