Sanding for a Fresh Start in Clinton Hill
Wood Flooring Masters recently had the opportunity to work on a small but impactful hardwood floor renovation for A.S. in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn. The project covered a 3 sq. ft. area, and it involved sanding and refinishing the existing hardwood floor. Sanding is an essential part of the process, allowing us to remove the old finish and smooth out any imperfections. After sanding, the wood was left with a fresh, clean surface, perfect for applying a new finish.
Refinishing with No Stain
For this project, A.S. wanted a natural look, so no stain or color change was applied. This allowed the natural beauty of the wood to shine through, maintaining its original charm. Natural finishes are a great choice for homeowners who want to preserve the look and feel of the wood, keeping it light and neutral. By leaving the wood unstained, we were able to showcase its true grain, texture, and character.

Protecting the Floor with Water-Based Polyurethane
After sanding and applying the natural finish, we sealed the hardwood floor with three coats of water-based polyurethane. Water-based polyurethane is an excellent choice for refinishing because it offers durability and protection without the strong odor or yellowing associated with oil-based finishes. The finish helps protect the wood from scratches, stains, and daily wear while maintaining a clear and clean look. The three coats of polyurethane created a strong barrier, ensuring that the floor will last for years.
Matte Finish for Subtle Elegance
To complete the look, we applied a matte finish to the floor. A matte finish provides a low-sheen, natural appearance that enhances the wood’s texture while keeping it simple and elegant. It’s an ideal choice for customers who want a more understated look that still offers protection and durability. The matte finish gave A.S.’s floor a sophisticated and refined appearance, making it perfect for their living space.
