Project Overview
When S.B. decided to upgrade the flooring in their home, they chose vinyl plank flooring for its durability, affordability, and water resistance. This renovation story takes you through the process of installing vinyl plank flooring in a home located in Exton, PA. The total floor size for the project was 804 square feet, which included removing old carpets, plywood, and vinyl, and installing waterproof wood vinyl planks. The work also included replacing 12 steps and risers, ensuring the entire space was beautifully updated.
Removing Old Flooring and Fixtures
Before we could begin installing the new vinyl plank flooring, we needed to remove some existing materials. The project started with the removal of 650 square feet of carpet and 154 square feet of plywood and vinyl. Additionally, two toilets were taken out to allow for a smooth, uninterrupted installation of the new floor. Removing the old flooring and fixtures created the perfect blank canvas for the new vinyl planks.

Vinyl Plank Flooring Installation
Once the old materials were removed, the installation of the vinyl plank flooring began. Vinyl plank flooring is a great choice for homeowners looking for a water-resistant option that still provides the aesthetic appeal of hardwood. S.B. chose waterproof wood vinyl, which is ideal for areas that may be exposed to moisture, like kitchens or bathrooms. The vinyl planks were carefully laid down to ensure a seamless and long-lasting floor.
Installing Shoe Moulding and Steps
To finish the project, we installed 265 linear feet of shoe moulding around the perimeter of the floor. This trim added a neat and polished look to the edges, completing the overall aesthetic. We also worked on 12 steps and risers, which were an important part of the renovation. These were carefully installed to ensure both functionality and safety, providing a cohesive and stylish upgrade to the entire home.
