Hardwood Installation in Flushing was the focus of D.M.’s renovation project. The customer wanted to replace old subfloors and install new hardwood flooring in a 130 sq ft space. Our team was tasked with installing unfinished hardwood, followed by sanding and refinishing the floors to bring out their beauty. With careful attention to detail, we transformed the space with a custom hardwood floor that would last for years.
Removing Old Subfloors: Preparing the Foundation
The first step in the renovation was to remove the old subfloors. This was essential to ensure a solid and level foundation for the new plywood and hardwood floors. Our team carefully took out the old subfloor and prepared the area for the installation of the new materials. By removing the old subfloors, we made sure the new flooring would be stable and durable.

Installing Plywood and Hardwood: The New Base
Once the old subfloor was removed, we installed 3/4-inch plywood to provide a strong, even base. Plywood is a popular choice for subflooring because of its durability and stability. After installing the plywood, we laid down the new hardwood planks, measuring 2 1/4 inches wide. The unfinished hardwood was carefully arranged to create a clean, uniform look that would be perfect for sanding and refinishing.
Staining and Finishing: Custom Touches for the Perfect Look
D.M. chose to have the hardwood stained to their liking, allowing for a custom look that suited their style. After applying the stain, we then added three coats of water-based polyurethane to seal and protect the wood. Polyurethane adds a durable finish, ensuring the floors would be resistant to wear and tear. The water-based formula provided a low odor and fast-drying finish, making it ideal for residential spaces.
With sanding, staining, and refinishing, D.M.’s new hardwood floors in Flushing now feature a smooth, polished surface that enhances the room’s beauty and provides long-lasting durability.
